Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?

I am a Construction Manager with RAM’s Major Projects division. Currently, I manage the delivery of the Civil works scope for the Vancouver Airport Fuel Delivery Project. I enjoy working at site, seeing the infrastructure go up first-hand, and learning new construction technologies that help deliver projects.

What do you find most challenging at RAM?

I find it a constant challenge to manage the number of deliverables that a Major Project requires with a lean team, while maintaining a minimum quality and removing roadblocks to avoid construction delays.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Learn to hear the important take-aways in meetings. Observe your peers and mimic techniques that prove effective.

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?

  1. A carefully crafted, persuasive email can result in significant project cost and time savings.
  2. Build real relationships with coworkers, clients, and stakeholders.
  3. Keep excellent records of meetings, construction progress, and inspections.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I start with a very long but necessary coffee routine. On a typical day off I am either catching up with family and friends or working on a personal project. I try my best to spend time with my two young boys who are growing by the second. I also love to travel – Portugal next on the list.
