Project Description
The City of Kelowna required construction services for general rehabilitation of the Richter Street Bridge over Mill Creek. The work consisted of stainless-steel deck and sidewalk overlay, construction of new ballast walls, concrete curb modifications between bridge deck and sidewalk, replacing bearing pads, and performing abutment seat concrete repairs. Kingston Construction Ltd. was awarded this work by the City.
During the bridge refurbishment, it was identified that it needed to be lifted at both ends by three millimetres. As a result, a design was required at short notice prior to the work proceeding.
Our Role
RAM was retained by Kingston Construction Ltd to provide design services for the bridge jacking solution.
Our structural engineering team provided designs to support the girders with a strongback on top of the deck, with 2-3 jacking points inside the Double T’s. RAM engineers were present on site within hours of the initial request, and had the design completed in under one week.
