Reconnection of Highway 8 Near Spences Bridge
RAM’s Principal, Joe Di Placito and RAM’s Manager of Indigenous Relations, Jodi Carlow, along with the other Cook’s Ferry Alliance businesses, Quattro Constructors and Northern Interior Aggregates/IDL hosted a barbecue to celebrate the reconnection of Highway 8 near Spences Bridge, BC.
The Cook’s Ferry Alliance, a collaboration between Cook’s Ferry Indian Band and RAM, Quattro, NIA/IDL has provided enhanced employment, training and community benefit through this important Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure project.
The Cook’s Ferry Alliance scopes included the construction of 3 bridges, demolition of existing damaged bridges, riprap armouring and remediation of several kilometers of highway. Chief Minnabariet from Cook’s Ferry Indian Band spoke at the barbecue of the importance of being included in this Highway 8 work to advance Indigenous communities and allow local families to finally go home. Drummers and sage pouches were also present during this event, making it an impactful and memorable celebration. We continue to be grateful for everyone who worked with us and supported our efforts to make this Highway 8 project a success to date.
