“Housing for women, by women” Team Highly Commended for World Architecture News: Female Frontier Awards!
We’re pleased to announce that the “Housing for women, by women” team has been chosen as a Highly Commended entry in the Team of The Year category! Women on this team include RAM’s very own Geotechnical Engineers, Karen Savage, Diane Meehan, Susan Tattersfield, and co-op student Kiara Mavalwala.
The judges said that the entries were of the highest caliber they have ever seen in these awards, saying that this years work provided “Beautiful, creative solutions, that are innovating the world of architecture” and “seeing these amazing projects at such different scales of architecture is testament to how great the industry really is.”
A big congratulations to all the women involved on this massive accolade to their work!
The Female Frontier Awards: Powered by World Architecture News recognized remarkable, talented and visionary women of all ages, at every level across Architecture. These awards will champion best practice, support new and established talent and celebrate the firms who are supporting women in their roles. The Team of the Year category recognized the skills and abilities of an all female or female-led team working on a built environment project either finished within the last 24 months or an ongoing (non-conceptual) project.
At RAM, we are dedicated to addressing the need for more women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Over the past decade, the number of women in the engineering profession in Canada has steadily grown. Despite this increase in the representation of women in engineering – both within the profession and in university engineering programs – women are still under-represented in this field. RAM is committed to increasing the representation of women in the profession so that it is more diverse and inclusive.
