Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?

My primary role at RAM is with the Civil Engineering Team as a Junior Engineer. I have also been helping the Construction Management team with some inspections. Most of the civil jobs are related to land development projects including servicing, stormwater management and roadwork design. My favourite part is getting to see my designs being built and physically getting to see them in action.

What do you find most challenging at RAM?

The most challenging part about my job has been starting this role during the height of the pandemic. Starting a job almost entirely remote took some adjusting, but everyone at RAM has been extremely helpful with welcoming me into the company.

What is your favorite part about working at RAM?

My favorite part about working for RAM is being part of a multidisciplinary company. Getting a much better understanding of all the teams that contribute to a project has been great for my overall understanding of engineering design.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

There are many opportunities to grow at RAM, try to take advantage of them!

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?

    1. Ask for help. Getting advice from others in your team as well as experts is a great way to expand your knowledge and learn about different ways of thinking other than your own;
    2. Get out to site when you can. Knowing how projects are constructed is important to an efficient and constructible design; and
    3. Take care of yourself. You can’t do your best work if you aren’t feeling your best.

What do you like to do on your days off?

On my days off I like to spend my time crafting, tending to my plants, and working on DIY projects around my apartment. These hobbies took off during the pandemic, and my home is now full of projects I’ve made myself and plants anywhere I can fit them. I also like to spend time camping and hiking around the area.
