Featured Employee – Donatus Unuigboje
Donatus is an Electrical Designer at RAM. He is a registered Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). He has a background in power systems, automation, and controls, as well as an in-depth understanding of control and power delivery systems. Donatus has two (2) years of experience in electronic circuit design, energy systems, telecommunications, and power generation.
“Don joined the Electrical group in July 2019 and is a valued member of our team. He started with providing drafting help, and quickly moved to design. Now, he is providing construction support for a number of his projects. Don is always willing to help the team meet tight deadlines. Recently, he created a lisp routine for standard blocks, as a template for AutoCAD, to minimize time spent on repeatable tasks. I am certain that Don will continue to grow, take on new challenging tasks and become an outstanding professional. ” says Luba Ebert, P.Eng., PMP, Director of Project Delivery at RAM.
Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?
As an Electrical Designer at RAM, my role involves civil and electrical drafting designs, electrical distribution analysis, cost estimates, project coordination and field surveys. I am happy with my continuous exposure to challenging projects which helps with my career development and growth as a professional while also building a network of friends and mentors.
What do you find most challenging at RAM?
At times, time management can be challenging for me when adjusting to new responsibilities and managing my workload. I constantly work on developing a habit of planning out my tasks by priority at the end of each workday.
What is your favorite part about working at RAM?
My favorite part about working for RAM is that I enjoy working with my colleagues. I also deeply value the team culture and community RAM has fostered in creating a productive work environment.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
To recent new hires, I believe your main objective is to acquire knowledge that adds value to yourself as a professional and to your team. Set career milestones, seek out responsibilities outside your comfort zone, and continuously learn.
What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?

- Always ask questions and clarify information. If you’re in doubt, you save productive time by ensuring that you have all the necessary information you need.
- Communicate effectively and ask for assistance from co-workers and supervisors if you’re overloaded or stuck on a task.
- Invest in caring for your physical and mental well being and learning how to manage stress.
What do you like to do on your days off?
I love playing outdoor pickup soccer or basketball with friends and also enjoy binge watching 90’s classic movies with my girlfriend.
