Featured Employee – Karine Roseira
Karine is a Junior Document Controller at RAM with five years of administrative experience. She is currently on the Vancouver Airport Fuel Delivery project, where she is responsible for quality checks, maintenance, and updates for project documentation, distributing documents and drawings for internal and external communication and supporting the team from the beginning to the end of a project.
“Since last year, Karine has been a great addition to the Document Control team. Despite her training and learning curve happening during lockdown time, she immediately adapted with positivity and wanted to move on to start helping and learning the document control processes. Karine is a highly motivated individual with a hands-on attitude. She is so committed to participating in the different areas and RAM projects. I am grateful to have her on my team.” says Polyana Ortega, Document Control Lead at RAM.
Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?
The document controller is responsible for all incoming and outgoing documents on a project, which includes naming the files properly, performing quality checks, sharing the files with a specific team for each project area, and archiving the documents in a centralized location.
What I like the most is about my role is that we are like a bridge for internal and external communication between contractors, consultants, our engineering team, and the client – I feel that we are an important key to the project launching.

Time management is a big challenge for me. We have lots of demand all the time and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of the time. So learning how to prioritize is a key skill in being successful not only in the day to day work, but especially to achieve your goals.

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?
-
- Always be willing to learn something new. The world changes every second, so do not limit yourself to what you already know and have.
- Do not struggle with things that you can’t control. Try your best and do not be afraid to ask for help.
- I wouldn’t be able to achieve as much if it wasn’t for all the great professionals I met on the way, which I am really grateful for.
What do you like to do on your days off?
I love to venture in outdoors activities, going out for walks at the end of the day, cycling during the summer, snowboarding in the winter, going on hikes, etc. I like gardening, and I always have a new plant at home, because I can’t keep the old ones alive for too long.
