Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?

I am RAM’s Manager of Engineering, responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing the Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Teams.  I love helping people grow into roles that challenge them and expand their experience.

What do you find most challenging at RAM?

I am enjoying the challenge of joining a rapidly growing company, and putting in place structures and systems to help an expanding Engineering Department.

What is your favorite part about working at RAM?

The people – an amazing and supportive group that is so welcoming! It feels like a tight knit group of friends.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Find a mentor as soon as you can. It doesn’t need to be a formal mentorship, just someone that you feel comfortable with and respect so that you can ask any questions that pop into your head! My best mentors have been informal, and more like friendships than mentorship.

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?

    1. Always take care of your health and your body – we all have demands on us that leave us feeling like we have no time, but if you don’t make the time to take care of your health, the demands will build and feel heavier. Always take care of your health.
    2. Don’t be afraid to talk to anyone in the company and communicate your ideas – approaching senior executive members will put you out of your comfort zone, but some of the best opportunities for growth come from these relationships and learning from experienced people in the organization.
    3. Enjoy the process – often times what feels like an incredibly hard and challenging project will end up being some of your greatest achievements and memories, so always keep things in perspective.

What do you like to do on your days off?

In my time away from work, I play tennis year-round, run on the seawall, and hike and snowshoe the local mountains with my wife.  I also enjoy travelling (pre-COVID!), attending Pearl Jam concerts (yes, there have been many!), and playing guitar with the bit of leftover spare time.
