Featured Staff Member: Carolina Amaral
Carolina is a Junior Document Controller at RAM with Field Engineering experience in both commercial and multi-residential projects in Brazil.
Tell us about your experience in Brazil!
I graduated from Faculdade Brasileira in Brazil with a Civil Engineering degree. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work in two vertical infrastructure construction companies as an Engineering Intern. After I graduated, I worked in a government funded low-rise building complex as a Field Engineer Coordinator for a Project Management Consultant company. Then I got married and moved to Vancouver!
What is your role at RAM?
I am currently a Junior Document Controller for RAM’s projects. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Quality check for documents received;
- Maintenance and updates for project documentation; and
- Distributing documents and drawings for information or review.
I find the document control process to be very challenging and pleasing as it requires a high level of attention to detail. I am also in the process of applying to become an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
What is your favorite part about working at RAM?
The team we have. I love how diverse our team is and how gender-inclusive the culture is at RAM. Although we’re all very busy, we always find time to support each other.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
- Enjoy the work place you have and the people around you.
- Smile, ask questions, and be interested.
- Respect everyone and try your best to learn as much as possible from your co-workers and help whenever you can!
What is your favourite part about working from home?
My favourite part about working from home is being able to spend more time with my husband and preparing delicious meals for us both!
