Project Description

The project consisted of installation of approximately 820m of 630 mm PVC main sanitary sewer line with associated fitting for Metro Vancouver with (3) plastic lined manholes and 20m of 267 mm PVC Sanitary line and fittings for the City of Burnaby.

  • One cast-in-place Concrete Manhole

RAM’s Role

As Quality Manager for this project, RAM’s role included preparing a project specific Quality Control Plan, an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and Checklists for each work function. Other tasks included performing Site Inspections, Review QC Test Results and providing QC Summary Reports for Each Segment of Work as per Metro Vancouver’s requirements.

 

Project Highlights

The project is located on North Road, splitting between two municipalities of Burnaby and Coquitlam which have different requirements regarding pipeline alignments and right of ways. Each municipality also has its own special provisions, which is in addition to MMCD requirements. These requirements have to be considered when drafting a Quality Control Plan for approval. Other project highlights include:

  • Approval of Quality Control Plan by Metro Vancouver, City of Burnaby and Coquitlam
  • Working in high traffic volume of North Road
  • Review of very special concrete mix for the cast-in-place manhole
  • Complicated Restoration Plan meeting City of Burnaby and Coquitlam requirements
