Project Description

In 2018, FortisBC upgraded their existing natural gas system in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia through the Lower Mainland Intermediate Pressure System Upgrade (LMIPSU) project.

The LMIPSU project consisted of replacing approximately 20 kilometres of existing intermediate pressure gas line that had reached the end of its service life; the goal was to install a new 30-inch gas line in its place.

The new line now runs from FortisBC’s Coquitlam Station, through Burnaby, and finally, to FortisBC’s Woodland Station in Vancouver. Due to this project, there were several storm and sanitary mains in the City of Vancouver that required CCTV video inspection for pre- and post-construction condition assessments.
