Tell us about your role at RAM? What do you like most about it?

I am a Technical Project Manager providing professional engineering services for the design, construction and maintenance of natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines. I am involved in the engineering of various projects including cost estimates, feed studies, assessments and detailed design.

What I like most about this role is I have the opportunity to work on many sustainment and operational projects that help Clients maintain essential services in British Columbia. There is a large variety of projects so my work is always interesting.

What do you find most challenging at RAM?

My first day at RAM was just a few weeks before the Covid-19 pandemic started. Adjusting to working from home and doing everything virtually was challenging  since I was getting to know both the Client’s and RAM’s teams. I am so grateful for the supportive people around me during my move to BC and transition here.

What is your favorite part about working at RAM?

I’m sure this has been said many times, but my favorite thing at RAM are the RAM employees! I am so happy to work with supportive, motivated and positive people. The team culture that everyone has worked hard to create is something very special here.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

I think it’s best to jump right into the task or project and go for it. You are new so you aren’t expected to know everything. Ask for help from your mentors and peers because they will help you learn along the way.

What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?

    1. I’ve learned to put my health first. When I take care of myself and my mind is in a good space I can be really productive.
    2. Making meaningful and effective workplace connections goes a long way.  I’m grateful to the people around me who I can brainstorm ideas with, work through problems, or just catch up to see what is happening in the industry and the world.
    3. I’ve learned to voice my opinion and participate. Being at a smaller, more agile company means that my ideas and contributions have an impact. If I want to change or influence a decision, I can be part of the discussion, put in the work and help turn ideas to reality.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I enjoy the outdoors and being so close to the coast. Last summer I really loved going to the beach, and exploring the little islands. I got married last year and we spent our honeymoon learning to surf in Tofino.
