Project Description

Located in downtown Vancouver at the intersection of Richards and Drake Streets, this project involves the construction of a 42-storey high-rise founded over five underground parking levels, replacing an existing institutional building.

The development will provide necessary social housing, and will include urban mixed-use spaces for cultural, social, and educational purposes, including a prayer hall and rooftop garden.

The excavation depths required for construction of the underground levels of this development range from approximately 14.6 to 19.8 metres below the existing site grades. The proposed shoring system along the north, east, and south portions of the site will necessitate the installation of staggered, tie-back soil anchors, vertical steel elements (pipe piles along the north and south, and hollow bar anchors along the east), and reinforced shotcrete.

The proposed shoring system along the west portion of the site will comprise the underpinning of the neighbouring building using shotcrete and soil anchors.

Our Role
