Project Description

BC Hydro required a new 60-kV relay building at Barnard Substation in Burnaby, B.C. RAM was retained by IDL Projects to provide Quality Assurance and Construction Management services.

Our Role

RAM’s scope of work involved civil, electrical and mechanical construction works, with tasks including:

  • Preparation of the project’s Quality Assurance Plan;
  • Inspection/test plans/checklists for civil and structural works;
  • Site inspection services during backfilling and concrete works;
  • Review of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Reports from third parties;
  • Management of non-conformances.

Project Highlights

The project held some challenges for our team, but RAM successfully navigated them, including the undertaking of construction works in a live substation near major waterways.  Our team also utilized advanced electrical equipment throughout our tasks.
