Project Description
This hydroelectric dam located on the Kootenay River near Castlegar, B.C., produces clean and renewable power for the province. Built during the Second World War, the Brilliant Dam continues to be a reliable and cost-effective source of power for millions of British Columbians.
The dam required expansion in the form of a second powerhouse, located immediately downstream from the existing structure.
Our Role
RAM was contracted to provide construction management services for this project, including:
- Assisting in the design and construction coordination of temporary structures;
- Coordinating concrete work and pours for the new powerhouse structure;
- Completing tunnel-lining research that saved substantial shotcrete costs and optimized head losses.
