Project Description

The celebrated Canada Line connects downtown Vancouver, B.C. with existing heavy rail lines, bus services, commuter rails, sea buses, and the city’s airport (YVR). This driverless Skytrain system includes eight underground lines–six of which are elevated, and two of which are at-grade stations–as well as an operations and maintenance center.

The Canada Line Project is a public-private partnership operating as part of a network of public transit services in metropolitan Vancouver, and the line was successfully completed and operating in time for the 2010 Olympics, hosted by the city.

Our Role

RAM provided construction management services for this major project, including managing subcontractors’ prequalification and tender process, schedule management, value engineering, and handover for the Operations and Maintenance Center for the Canada Line, which is located in Richmond, B.C.

Our extensive scope of work included:

  • Completing all grading and ballast install for the rail yard;

  • Assisting in accelerating the project schedule by three months;
  • Managing self-perform crews and subcontractors to complete all the flatworks, including curbs, sidewalks, bollards;
  • Tendering and managing landscaping tasks, fencing, and other surrounding works.
