Project Description

Situated in the area of the main entrance to the Capilano Watershed, this project consists of the construction of a new powerhouse facility capable of providing up to 8MW (megawatts) of backup power in the event of an outage. The scope of the project includes the construction of a new powerhouse, installation of diesel generators, the construction of underground an diesel vault and fuel delivery system, a seamless power transfer capability back to the BC Hydro grid, and the construction of a new security gate house for Capilano Watershed staff.

Our Role

RAM is providing Construction Management services for this project, which include the following:

  • Overseeing works on behalf of Metro Vancouver, while coordinating efforts between Metro Vancouver, their Engineer of Record (EOR), and the general contractor;
  • Construction scopes each including civil, structural (both steel frame and reinforced concrete structures), electrical, and mechanical work packages;
  • Structuring RFI efforts between EOR and general contractor,  and implementing document control procedures;
  • Providing weekly and monthly reports;
  • Providing analysis and commentary on the budget submission and end-of-month of the general contractor;
  • Chairing and taking minutes for weekly Project Coordination meetings, Construction Engineering Services meetings, and Environmental and Safety walks, as well as additional meetings that may arise;
  • Supporting Metro Vancouver and their EOR during commissioning efforts;
  • Managing project close-out and handover of all QC records.
