Project Description

The Pier 61 Decommissioning project involves the full decommissioning and removal of Pier 61, a marine loading dock that has been in operation since 1956 but was taken out of service in 2023 following the expansion of the Westridge Marine Terminal under the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP). The scope of work includes:

  • Dismantling and removal of above-water structures and associated equipment
  • Decommissioning and removal of marine structural components
  • Deactivation and removal of piping and mechanical systems
  • Dismantling and removal of upland structures and infrastructure

RAM’s Role

RAM is providing engineering and project management services from planning through to construction award and execution. This includes updates to project documentation, risk and schedule management, permitting support, and procurement coordination. In addition, RAM is responsible for delivering electrical and mechanical drawing packages to support Trans Mountain crews in carrying out specific portions of the decommissioning work.

RAM will also be providing ongoing engineering support during construction which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Chairing weekly site coordination meetings
  • Schedule management and updates
  • Responding to RFIs and evaluating change orders
  • Conducting site visits and developing record drawings
