Project Description

RAM was engaged by FortisBC for a comprehensive Category D inspection of the Second Narrows Bridge Crossing between Vancouver and North Vancouver, employing drones and visual evaluations due to access challenges. The inspection focuses on identifying corrosion and coating issues.

RAM’s Role

The inspection included the following observations:
  •  Condition of ground entry points
  • Assessing corrosion in specific locations(pits)
  • Evaluating Pipe Supports and Pipe rollers, Spring Hangers and Structural Brackets
  • Observing and assessing vibrations due to External Forces
  • Condition of pipe coating and surface, such as fading, flaking, blistering, rust, pitting
  • Condition of Pipe / tower / cable anchors
  • Leakage (due to corrosion or damage)

Project Highlights

RAM Engineering conducted a thorough inspection of Second Narrows Bridge Pipeline using UAV Drones and visual inspections. RAM inspector provided detailed maintenance recommendations for integrity preservation and evaluated all aspects of the pipeline’s operation, maintenance, and safety measures to meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
