Project Description
RAM was engaged by FortisBC for a comprehensive Category D inspection of the Second Narrows Bridge Crossing between Vancouver and North Vancouver, employing drones and visual evaluations due to access challenges. The inspection focuses on identifying corrosion and coating issues.
RAM’s Role
The inspection included the following observations:
- Condition of ground entry points
- Assessing corrosion in specific locations(pits)
- Evaluating Pipe Supports and Pipe rollers, Spring Hangers and Structural Brackets
- Observing and assessing vibrations due to External Forces
- Condition of pipe coating and surface, such as fading, flaking, blistering, rust, pitting
- Condition of Pipe / tower / cable anchors
- Leakage (due to corrosion or damage)
