Project Description
The newest portion of the US 69 Interstate crosses the Ohio River into Henderson, located in western Kentucky. The proposed alignment for this highway conflicted with two existing transmission lines (69kV and 138kV), both of which are owned by Big Rivers Electric Corporation (BREC). The scope of this project was to relocate two kilometres of these two transmission lines to accommodate the construction of the new interstate infrastructure.
Our Role
RAM provided electrical engineering services for this project, including:
- Designing a PLS-CADD model for the relocation of 2km of 69kV and 138kV overhead transmission lines, allowing the new US69 interstate highway to be constructed.
- Creating construction drawings and specifications for new steel pole structures and new overhead wires according to client requirements.
- Contacting multiple vendors to specify all necessary materials for construction.
- Analyzing transmission line clearances and structure locations compared to the existing/proposed utilities and interstate highways.
