Project Description

Development of a Waste Rubble Management Plan for the City of Vancouver Water and Sewers department. The plan will review current operations and will provide recommendations to improve waste reduction and diversion programs, aiming to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use in City-run vehicles.

RAM’s Role

RAM was retained to develop a list of recommended actions to reduce the amount of excavated material currently being directed to the landfill from various sewer construction projects throughout the City. These actions include recycling of asphalt and concrete, as well as stockpiling, sorting, testing and reusing native backfill where possible. RAM also developed a concept pilot project for the City to consider.
