Project Description
The South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR), Highway 17, has a Seismic Monitoring System that consists of recorders, accelerometers, transducers, gauges, and software for real time monitoring of ground motions and structural responses resulting from seismic activity. The system supplies near-real-time data to the Pacific Geoscience Centre (PGC) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Earthquake Engineering Department. The system consists of six (6) Strong Motion Network (SMN) Sensors, two (2) Free Field Downhole Arrays (FFDA), and three (3) Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) Systems.
RAM’s Role
Having successfully coordinated the installation of the system, RAM was retained by Fraser Transportation Group Partnership, the highway Concessionaire, to complete a detailed Operation and Maintenance Manual for the Seismic Monitoring System. The work included summarizing the bore hole depths, software components, detailing site access to the cabinets, compiling as-built records and creating a schedule matrix for maintenance.
