Project Description
As part of the South Fraser Perimeter Road project, there were three FortisBC Transmission Pressure Mains (SF2, SF3, SF5) that required relocations. The transmission main located near Highway 99 (SF2) involved the use of light weight fill in order to accelerate the schedule for full settlement. The other two locations (SF3 and SF5) both required the construction of a temporary bypass during the Advanced Works phase in order to properly preload the new pipeline orientation through the SFPR alignment.
RAM’s Role
RAM was retained by the joint venture, FTG Constructors, to engage in design reviews with the owner, and to manage the construction, costs, and scheduling of the three relocations. RAM was also responsible for obtaining all SFPR related construction permits for works within these right of ways. RAM was able to reduce the overall construction schedule by 6 months by implementing hybrid ground improvements (EPS and light weight fill) compared to traditional preload methods.
