Project Description

The JACOS (Japan Canada Oil Sands) Hangingstone Expansion Project consisted of a central processing facility and new production wells, along with supporting pipelines and roadways. The Expansion Project is located 53 km South of Fort McMurray along Highway 63 and has a production capacity of up to 30,000 Barrels of Bitumen per day.

RAM’s Role

RAM was retained by IDL Projects Inc. to work on their site preparation contract, which included deep underground utilities, foundation excavations and back-fill, as well as site remediation. RAM’s role was to setup and maintain the job’s costing and reporting system, as well as assist with work phase planning.

 

Project Highlights

Some highlights with our scope include:

  • Implementing a new costing system and software. This required trials, training of the project staff and modification to existing systems in order to optimize tracking and reporting
  • Complex construction phasing along with extreme winter conditions and an accelerated schedule
